I log out after "becomeing another user" - as a test. now when I log back in with my admin account I cannot get to the admin controls.
I'm locked out?
is this just a cookie thing? if I log in from another machine will it be ok? or has this thing permanently changed me to the other user.

That has happened to me too. Clearing the cookies usually works. Sometimes you will have to close that browser window and open a new one to get logged in properly. Fortunately you don't usually need to use the "Become this user" function. As you can manipulate the account from the admin panel. Have fun.
